Ingredients

For the crust

For the strawberry filling

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced Use ripe strawberries for best flavor
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar To sweeten the strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Freshly squeezed

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the flour and salt, mixing until combined, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking pan to form the crust.

Preparing Strawberry Filling

  • In another bowl, combine the sliced strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Let sit for 10 minutes to release juices.

Baking

  • Pour the strawberry mixture over the crust and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Let cool before cutting into bars.
