Strawberry Donuts

Ingredients

For the Donuts

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped fresh strawberries

For the Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tbsp milk or cream Adjust for consistency
  • 2 tbsp mashed strawberries Strained if needed
  • Optional: pink food coloring or freeze-dried strawberry powder

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan with non-stick spray or butter.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until evenly combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. Gently fold in the finely chopped strawberries.
  • Spoon or pipe the batter into the donut cavities, filling them about three-quarters full.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes or until the donuts are springy to the touch and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Glazing

  • For the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and mashed strawberries until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more milk or powdered sugar as needed.
  • Dip the cooled donuts into the glaze and allow them to set on the wire rack. If you wish, add sprinkles for a festive touch.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days; refrigerate for a week but may affect texture. Can be frozen for up to three months.
