Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Allow to soften at room temperature.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Use packed brown sugar.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup eggnog Homemade or store-bought.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping (Optional)

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar crumble Optional topping.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon.

Mixing

  • In another bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs, eggnog, and vanilla until well combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle with brown sugar crumble if desired.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let cool before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve fresh alongside coffee, tea, or eggnog. For extra flavor, add nuts or dried fruits to the batter.
