Asparagus Preparation

  • 1 pound fresh asparagus Look for bright green stalks that are firm and straight.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Use fresh garlic for the best flavor.
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese Optional; can skip for a non-cheese version.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Wash and trim the asparagus, cutting off the tough ends.
  • In a bowl, toss the asparagus with olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  • Spread the asparagus in a single layer on a baking sheet.

Roasting

  • Roast in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the asparagus is tender and lightly browned.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
  • Return to the oven for an additional 2-3 minutes to melt the cheese.
  • Serve warm with lemon wedges if desired.

Notes

Serve alongside grilled chicken, beef, or fish for a balanced meal. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 5-10 minutes.
