A delicious twist on the classic French dip sandwich, these squares feature tender roast beef, gooey provolone cheese, and savory Au Jus gravy wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough, making them perfect for a quick meal or appetizer.

  • 1 lb roast beef, sliced
  • 1 cup Au Jus gravy
  • 1 package crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Roll out the crescent roll dough and place it in a greased square baking dish, pressing it into the bottom and up the sides.
  • Layer the sliced roast beef evenly over the dough.
  • Sprinkle the shredded provolone cheese on top of the roast beef.
  • In a small bowl, mix the Au Jus gravy, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and pour it evenly over the cheese and beef.
  • Fold the edges of the dough over the filling.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the dough is golden brown.
  • Let cool for a few minutes, then cut into squares and serve.

Notes

Tips: Press the dough into the corners of the baking dish to prevent filling leakage. Add sliced mushrooms or bell peppers for extra flavor. For heat, add jalapeños or red pepper flakes. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days.
