Crispy Tofu Bites

Deliciously crunchy tofu bites, perfect as a snack or protein-packed addition to bowls and salads.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 14 oz firm or extra-firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch for coating
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free blend)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil (or avocado oil) for frying
  • 4 tbsp vegan butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

Garnish

  • to taste Chopped parsley + sesame seeds

Instructions

Preparation

  • Wrap the tofu block in paper towels and press it under a weight for 15–30 minutes.
  • Once pressed, cut tofu into 1-inch cubes and pat dry again.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, spices, salt, and pepper.
  • Coat tofu cubes evenly in the dry mix. Let them sit for 10 minutes.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Fry tofu in batches, turning until golden on all sides (about 3–4 minutes each side).
  • Drain cooked tofu on paper towels and lower the heat to medium.
  • In the same pan, melt vegan butter and add minced garlic. Cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • Add soy sauce and maple syrup, stir well.
  • Return the tofu to the pan and toss in the glaze until coated.

Serving

  • Garnish and serve hot with your favorite sides.

Notes

Store cooked bites in an airtight container for 2–3 days. Reheat in a skillet or oven (not microwave) to regain crispiness. Ideal for meal prep and packed lunches.
