Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup cottage cheese (4% milkfat, small curd preferred)
  • 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder (Dutch-processed for smoother flavor)
  • 2–3 tbsp honey or maple syrup (or sweetener of choice)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional, adds depth)
  • 1 pinch salt (enhances chocolate flavor)
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds (optional, for added thickness & omega-3s)
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder (optional, for extra protein)
  • 1–2 tbsp milk (optional, adjust texture if needed)

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a blender or food processor, combine the cottage cheese and cocoa powder. Blend until completely smooth. (Tip: Scrape down the sides with a spatula for a silky texture!)
  • Add honey/maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Blend again. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  • For extra creaminess, add 1–2 tbsp milk. For a thicker mousse, blend in chia seeds and let rest for a few minutes before chilling.
  • Transfer to serving glasses or bowls, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes for the flavors to meld and texture to set.
  • Garnish with shaved chocolate, berries, or a dollop of whipped cream before serving.

Notes

Make it richer by adding 1 tbsp of nut butter for a deep, indulgent flavor. This mousse keeps well in the fridge for 2–3 days. Use protein powder for an extra protein-packed dessert!
