Ingredients

For the Dough

  • 3/4 cup water

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup shredded cheese

For Frying

Instructions

Preparation of Dough

  • In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  • Gradually add water until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough until smooth, then let it rest for 15 minutes.

Cooking the Filling

  • While the dough is resting, cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned.
  • Drain excess fat and add taco seasoning, following packet instructions for seasoning.

Frying the Chalupas

  • Heat oil in a deep pan for frying.
  • Roll the rested dough into small circles.
  • Carefully fry the dough in the hot oil until golden and flaky, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  • Drain the chalupas on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Assembling the Chalupas

  • Assemble the chalupas by adding the seasoned taco meat into the fried dough.
  • Top with shredded lettuce, cheese, and any additional toppings like sour cream or salsa.
  • Serve immediately.
