Instructions
Preparation
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, cream cheese, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is fluffy.
Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until the batter is smooth.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Divide the dough in half and roll each half into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick on a lightly floured surface.
Sprinkle the brown sugar and ground cinnamon evenly over each rectangle.
Roll each piece of dough tightly into a log, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Baking
Slice the chilled dough into ½-inch rounds and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spaced apart.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
If desired, drizzle with a simple powdered sugar glaze made by mixing the powdered sugar with a small amount of water or milk until smooth.
Notes
These cookies are perfect on their own but can also be served with coffee or hot chocolate. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
