Ingredients

  • 1 2/3 cups sugar
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 ounces dark chocolate chips
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional) pecans or walnuts

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, evaporated milk, butter, and salt.
  • Place over medium heat and stir constantly until it starts to boil.
  • When the mixture starts to boil, continue stirring for about 5 minutes to thicken slightly.
  • Remove from heat and immediately add the chocolate. Stir until completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
  • Add the marshmallows, vanilla, and nuts. Continue stirring until everything is melted and well combined.
  • Pour the mixture into a lightly buttered 9 x 9 square pan.
  • Smooth the surface and let it cool to room temperature.
  • Once cooled and firm, cut into squares.

Notes

To keep your chocolate fudge fresh, store it in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or refrigerate for up to two weeks. Bring back to room temperature before enjoying. Customize with different chocolate types or add-ins like dried fruits or cookie pieces.
