Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk Can substitute with almond milk or any plant-based milk.
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted Essential for rich flavor and texture.
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Topping

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 3/4 cups hot water Carefully pour over the batter.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Stir in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In another bowl, mix the brown sugar and hot water, then pour this mixture over the batter without stirring.

Baking

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is set but the center remains gooey.

Serving

  • Serve warm, possibly with a scoop of ice cream on top.

Notes
