  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup heavy cream Can be substituted with half and half for a lighter version.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (like cheddar or mozzarella) Experiment with different cheeses for unique flavors.
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs For gluten-free, substitute with crushed gluten-free crackers or almond flour.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large bowl, toss the trimmed asparagus with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  • Place the asparagus in a baking dish.
  • In a saucepan, combine heavy cream, minced garlic, and shredded cheese over medium heat until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  • Pour the cheese sauce over the asparagus.
  • Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top of the cheese sauce.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until the asparagus is tender and the top is golden brown.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

Feel free to add diced tomatoes or spinach for extra flavor. For a smoky taste, stir in some cooked turkey bacon or chicken ham. You can also try adding different herbs in the cheese sauce.
