Preparation
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
In a large bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking soda, and salt together.
Stir in the grated cheddar cheese and chopped chives.
Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk. Mix until the dough comes together.
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead gently for about 30 seconds.
Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Cut a shallow cross on the top of the loaf.
Baking
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
